How We Started (1995)
KC's Window Cleaning began with one truck, one ladder, and a simple promise: do the job right, show up when you say you will, and treat every customer's home like your own.
In 1995, the East Valley looked different. Gilbert had 29,000 residents (not 267,000). Queen Creek was barely incorporated. Most window cleaning companies served all of Phoenix — spreading themselves thin, arriving late, and delivering inconsistent results.
We chose a different path. Focus on the East Valley exclusively. Build relationships with neighbors, not transaction counts with strangers scattered across 500 square miles. Show up on time. Remove hard water stains instead of smearing them around. Return calls the same day.
Turns out, people noticed. Word spread through neighborhoods. Referrals became our primary marketing. By 2000, we had three trucks and a waiting list. By 2005, we'd cleaned over 500 East Valley homes and established ourselves as the local choice over franchise operations.
The Game-Changer (2012)
In 2006, we made a decision that changed everything: to add in-house sunscreen manufacturing.
Most window cleaning companies partner with sunscreen installers or refer customers elsewhere. We saw an opportunity. East Valley homeowners needed both services. Arizona's brutal sun destroys window clarity while driving cooling costs through the roof. Why shouldn't one trusted company handle both?
The problem was capability. Manufacturing sunscreens requires facility space, specialized equipment, material sourcing, and trained fabrication technicians. Most companies can't or won't make that investment — it's easier to outsource or stay in their lane.
We invested anyway. Expanded our Gilbert facility. Purchased fabrication equipment. Established relationships with Phifer (premium sunscreen material manufacturer). Trained our team. Became licensed contractors (required for SRP rebate eligibility).
The result: KC's became an East Valley provider offering professional window cleaning and in-house sunscreen manufacturing. Not outsourced. Not subcontracted. Complete control over quality, timing, and customer experience.
Customers loved it. One company. One call. One relationship. Windows cleaned and sunscreens installed by the same trusted team. Repairs done same-day instead of waiting weeks for outsourced fabrication.
By 2015, sunscreens became 40% of our revenue. By 2020, we'd processed over 200 SRP rebates with 100% approval rate. Today, we're the go-to East Valley choice for homeowners who want both services done right.
